Our Story

A family of food businesses built on purpose, partnership and a genuine love of good food.

Who We Are

Built on Purpose. Driven by Flavour.

Purpose Foods is a group of food businesses and manufacturing facilities operating across Australia and New Zealand, proudly part of the PTG Food group of companies. From our three facilities in Brisbane, Mount Maunganui and Rotorua, we source, prepare and deliver quality wholesale and service foods for distributors, food producers, retailers and the hospitality industry, supplying partners across the world.

Each of our brands has its own story and identity. What unites them is a shared standard: real ingredients, honest processes, and a level of quality that doesn’t waver between a supermarket shelf and a commercial kitchen.

Our Philosophy

Purpose Beyond Profit

We believe a food business should be measured by more than what it makes. Great food starts with great people: the growers we source from, the chefs and food scientists who develop our products, the teams on our production lines, and the partners who put our food in front of customers.

That’s why we think in generations, not quarters. We invest in capability, in standards, and in relationships built to last. When we say wholesale foods made with soul, that’s not a tagline. It’s how we operate.

What We Stand For

Quality Without Compromise

From sourcing to delivery, we hold every product to the same standard: would we serve this to our own families? If the answer isn’t an emphatic yes, it doesn’t leave our facilities.

Partnership Over Transaction

We measure success in decades, not orders. Our longest-standing relationships with retailers, distributors and brand owners have been built on consistency, transparency and showing up when it counts.

Responsibility in Action

We take our impact seriously: on the environment, on our communities, and on the food system we’re part of. Sustainability isn’t a department at Purpose Foods. It’s a thread that runs through everything we do.

Craft at Scale

We’ve proven that volume and quality aren’t opposites. Our facilities combine culinary craft with manufacturing rigour, with chefs, food scientists and technologists working side by side on every product.

Our Journey

Generations in the Making

Our heritage runs deep. Richmond Foods has been baking New Zealand’s favourite sausage rolls in Rotorua since 1971. GreenMount Foods traces its lineage to 1994, growing from CSI Processors into one of New Zealand’s most trusted food manufacturers. Artisan Food Co brings world-class manufacturing and European-inspired craft from its purpose-built Brisbane facility.

Together, as part of the PTG Food group, these businesses share infrastructure, standards and ambition, and a belief that business done well can be a force for good.

FAQs

It means our products are designed by chefs, not just engineered by machines. Traditional methods like slow simmering, natural formulations with no artificial shortcuts, and a belief that food made for volume should still taste like someone cared. It’s the difference you can taste between a product built to a price and a product built to a standard.
PTG Food is our parent group, a family of food businesses with operations across Asia Pacific including Hong Kong, Shanghai, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. PTG describes itself as a generational investor: it doesn’t invest for short term profit, but on behalf of generations to come, with sustainability commitments that include a carbon reduction partnership with WWF.
Through businesses with genuine heritage. Richmond Foods has been baking in Rotorua since 1971. GreenMount Foods began as CSI Processors in 1994 and became GreenMount in 2013. Artisan Food Co brings purpose-built manufacturing in Brisbane. Purpose Foods unites them with shared standards and a shared belief in food done properly.
Because products designed by chefs perform in real kitchens. Our development teams include working culinarians alongside food scientists and technologists, which means recipes are built for flavour first, then engineered for consistency and scale. The result is food that professional kitchens trust and consumers come back to.
Because time is an ingredient. Across our group, from slow-simmered stocks to traditionally crafted bone broths, we believe good things take time, and that this patience is what brings out the natural flavour and quality that shortcuts can’t replicate.
It means stability. As part of a group that invests for the long term, our partners get a manufacturer that plans in decades: investing in facilities, retaining expertise, and building relationships designed to outlast individual product cycles or market swings.
